Hillside turmeric is smaller, harder to dig and far richer in the oil we want. Our growers in Bandarban harvest by hand in February and we press it the same week.

It stains. Your pillowcase will turn yellow. Our grandmothers would say that is how you know it is real.

Before the first night 24 h

One drop on the inside of your forearm. Leave it a full day. If the skin reddens or itches, this oil is not for you, and we will take the bottle back.

Each night four drops

  1. Wash your face and leave it damp.
  2. Four drops into one palm.
  3. Warm it between both hands.
  4. Press it in: cheeks, forehead, neck. Do not rub.

Then wait 10 min

Give it ten minutes before your head meets the pillow. More of the oil stays on you and less goes into the cotton.

It will stain

Fingertips, for an hour. Pale collars, for good. The pillowcase most of all, which is why one comes in the box. Give that one to the oil.

Getting it out

Soap turns the yellow red. That is turmeric meeting alkali, and it is normal. Rinse cold, then hang the cloth in direct sun. Daylight fades it in a day or two.

Keeping it

Cap tight, out of the light. The glass is brown for the same reason the sun cleans your pillowcase. Use within six months of opening. Not for eyes or broken skin.
